The song is ‘your little flower’ from my debut EP ‘In the gaps between’. Its the most ‘Industrial Dance’ of any pom pom song and is certainly the dance track off my EP. Its angry, bitter, slightly psychotic and fun all at once. So the perfect song do my first clip too!
After much discussion about concept and narration with my direction Mark Bakaitis we decided to focus mainly on performance and aesthetic in this first clip with a subtle and abstract use of narration. This clip is mainly aimed to introduce the world wide web to the universe of pom pom…
SHOOT 1
As a girl (and a girly girl at that), one of the most exciting things about filming a clip is deciding ‘WHAT TO WEAR!’ For the first section I’d decided to go with a ‘cheerleader’ inspired outfit, which ya know.. kinda goes with the whole ‘pom pom’ thing….I’d sourced an 80′s American high school cheerleading jacket online as well as a very Liv Tyler in ‘Empire Records’ skirt, a vintage cheerleading top and of course high heels that I potentially would break my ankle in if I rocked out too hard- Hyrajuku cheerleading stylz with mini pom pom’s in my hair! – . in true – . style went with her gut on the night and and combined electro and vintage chic styles to look smashing. After each of us had amazing make up artistically applied on our faces by Buttons Kill and Ronia Elhajje-Fisher we headed down south side of Melbs..
The first section we filmed involved – . and I rocking out in an underground car park. After meeting the crew and afew cheeky vodkas to help warm up and boost the rock star ego it was time to shoot. Shooting was so much fun and the crew were amazing. They knew what they wanted and how to get the best performance out of us. Probably a combo of the vodkas and adrenhelin but I didnt even feel the cold. I was having too much fun…
I couldn’t wait to wear an amazing couture design by TENTACLE THREADS. I’d seen this design online and had fallen inlove straight away. Black, shiny with HUGGGGEEEE tulle shoulders and in built suspenders.. What’s not to love!? This section involved me basically walking down the street and busting out afew moves while conveying the emotion behind the song. Which is all well and good until you get a half inebriated pom pom in a pair of 5 inch platform shoes trying to do it. Never the less, I had a ball and we didn’t annoy any of the near by residence.
Shoot 1 of 2 complete!
SHOOT 2
There was 1 small section left to be shot. It involved 2 main things….
1- me being chased by a menacing car
2- me rolling around on wet and cold concrete.
For this shoot TENTACLE THREADS and I had worked on a custom made pom pom catsuit. Squiddy is amazing at interpreting my unko way of describing designs! What TT came up with was amazing. So much colour and qwerk! This shoot only look about 2 hours and though it started to rain at times it didn’t hold us back! I did more excersie in those 2 hours than I have done sport in the last year and surprisingly instead of needing a radox bath and bed after running and thrashing about I was so excited and invigorated by the whole process and how smoothly it had gone!
Thanks so much to the crew on the night- You boys are all amazing! -
A HUGGGEEEE big thankyou to everyone involved in this clip. Your help and support for my music will never be forgotten. Xx

GIG 1 FAITHNIGHTCLUB- BRISBANE
with Felinedown and Trip Sinister
Sat 9/07/11
Well FInally back in Melbourne after a very busy but awesome week away of gigging! yay4gigging!
It all began with Melbourne airport. 2 girls wobbling along with oversized luggage.
Clammy hands and fear of death aside- we made it to brisbane ALIVE!!
We were greeted by beautiful sunshine, which I took the chance gleefully to frolick around in like a fairy!
Thank GOD for all the guys and girls in the other bands and their AWESOME help and willingness to offer me gear to borrow or else we would not have been able to come and play in the first place! It make such a difference when bands decide to help each other out instead of compete against each other! If only this happened ALL THE TIME!
The night headlined by local electro rockers Felinedown and supported by pom pom and Trip Sinister at Faithnight club in Spring Hill was absolutely fucking AMAZING!!!!! The night itself pulled more numbers than international industrial dance band Combichrist managed on the Brisbane leg of their Australian tour which is an absolute testiment to the hard work and professional approach of the bands and most notabily the organisers. Thankyou to Felinedown for inviting pom pom to play in the first place, it was such an honour to be asked, I felt very special! And thankyou to Richard Warman who organised the logistics of the trip up north. The line up was absolutely ideal!! Surprisingly with 3 female fronted electro rock bands, you’d think it may all get abit samey same same BUT there was so much diversity in performance styles and influences within each act that it was nothing short of the PERFECT electro rock night out!

Sunday involved an awesome BBQ with amazing amounts of incredible hang over food as well as great times with new friends. It was such a cool idea and gave all the bands and everyone involved in the show time to chill, reflect on the success of the night and time simply to hang out. Before I knew it, it was my favourtie time of the day (NOT!), flying time !!!! And off to the airport we go. bye bye Brisbane and Brisbournians! its been incredible, hopefully we can hang out for longer next time in spring Xx
GIG 2 TONE- SURRY HILLS- SYDNEY
with Elizabeth Rose, Jugu and Tim Fitz
Weds nights gig was more of an indie electro pop night with some of my favourite Sydney female synth gals Elizabeth Rose and Jugu, as well as Tim Fitz. The venue, TONE was lovely and I was looking forward to the whole line up and to seeing some of my Sydney friends again. Tim Fitz was incredible. Not only can the guy smash it out on bass, guitar, keyboard and drums- he can do it all at THE SAME TIME! I couldnt help myself as I continuously swore out loud in awe throughout his set. It was mind blowing stuff! Next up was Jugu. She writes some amazing optimistic synth pop with the voice of an angel. I always tip my hat to people that have a knack for writing happier or more optimistic songs as I have no idea how to do it! Not that Jugu didnt delve into slightly darker territory as well, which she did, but her gift for beautiful pop songs is pretty amazing. Next le pom. Wearing a modern expressive dance costume from 10 YEARS AGO! (HAHA!!) I was pretty excited to play. We started the set was some of my softer songs and included a new song ‘Forest Boy’ which is about to get mixed and mastered soon (yay!) before delving into some darker and dancier pom pom songs. The crowd were very polite and kind of quiet…. I’m more use to thrashing dancers up the front and rucous behavior but even though this were a quieter crowd I could tell they were really watching, which is still very cool. Next up was the lovely Elizabeth Rose, sitting somewhere between bat for lashes more electronic side and a slighly rnb fused fever ray, Elizabeth Rose is one talented young lady. And with such polished and killer production too! Now time to head back down that highway I know so well and hit the hay.
GIG 3 SOL’S STUDIO- WOLLONGONG
with Chainsaw Mascara, Leo J and Narly
I didn’t know WHAT to expect at Thursday nights gig. I do still LOVE my hometown Wollongong. And I feel very strongly attached to the local scene, which before long I will have been involved in on and off for 10 years. wtf! Im getting old! Its very difficult to book gigs in my hometown these days even as an ex-local and an interstate band but low and behold I booked one. weeee! It was to be held at a new regular band night at a non-profit performance/dance music space called Sol’s Studio which has been in operation for afew years now. Its very DIY which I love and its also all ages which is something that has been missing in the local music scene for a LONNNGGGGGGggggg time!. First up was one of my favourite local rockers Narly with Radus on drums. Think of Gomez but way sexier and at times kind of bluesy. Yep, thats Narly. With a voice like gravel that sounds amazing! Next up was Leo J, who I found online afew years ago but still hadnt had the opportunity to play with or see live. His set was kooky, strange and I loved it! With Leo J around that brings the tally from 1 to 2 electronic bands currently from Wollongong! I loved his set and his attention to the visual side as well. 3rd up were Chainsaw Mascara, I’d booked these guys awhile back when I was co-running the lucid mini fest and liked their perfomance style and energy back then and their set has only gotten tighter since! Broken leads aside, (Thanks Leo J for helping!!!) we played a good tight set and though the night was running realllllyyy late, people got up and danced and I was really happy with the turn out. Thanks to Sol’s Studios and their organisers for having pom pom, the other bands for playing and the lovely Telli and Wendy for being le door girls.
GIG 4 MOTHERLAND GIG- TENTACLE THREADS FUNDRAISER- MARRICKVILLE- SYDNEY
with Shiv-r, Danjer, The Tormentor, Dj Nouveaux, DJ VAIEN
+ T Threads runway show and Chris Wheeler- (Contact Juggler)
I’m a big fan of young upcoming alternative fashion designer TENTACLE THREADS and was more than happy to play at her fundraiser night so that she could save up funds to launch her label over in London. Squiddy, the brains behind the label is the best friend of a dear friend of mine, the late Nate Cult whom I met her through. Nate was a huge fan and supporter of Squiddy’s creative work and I through Mister Cult, got to know Squiddy and have also fallen inlove with her dark and stylish couture. The night ‘Motherland Fundraiser’ held at one of my favourite Sydney venues The Red Rattler was a great chance to hang out with friends and watch most of my friends perform or dj as well. ( I’m lucky to have lots of talented friends! ) First up was a short runway show of tentacles threads stand out designers. one word – WOW. Check her stuff out at- www.tentaclethreads.com
Then the music started pumping! Nouveoux launching into his first live set ever was great! followed by The Tormentor also an up and coming industrial dance dj/performer with some brutal sounds! Next was the divine and amazingly talented piano thrasher Danjer. what a presence and what a killer voice! pom pom next up, and once all my gear decided to talk to my computer we were off! And played a pretty good set. Im not sure if the mainly goth crowd really new what to expect when pom pom wasnt busting out the 4 to the flour ebm/aggrotech they were so comfortable with but reviews afterwards made me realise that they were just taking it in and did dig da pom. After a short set by VAIEN (one of the best underground syd djs)- Shiv-r took to the stage as the last band of the night. With a very polished show and some amazing stage costumes they were clearly loved by the darklings kicking on into the night.

And so that ended pom poms 2nd interstate stint for 2011. Back to Melb both Dash Dot and I go. Back to my laptop to work on tunes and back to finishing off my debut filmclip and organising melb gigs as well as the 3rd interstate stint in spring.
